Past it at Thirty?
Turning thirty comes as a bit of a shock to many people but it turns out that it’s much more traumatic for women than for men.
According to polls, 29 is the age at which many women start to feel old, but most men don’t start to feel old until they’re double that age (58). Conducted by Avalon Funeral Plans, the study into perceptions of ageing suggests that finding the first grey hair sends many women into a tailspin - men don’t worry half as much about the arrival of the silver surf.
Women also start to feel old when their “assets” start to go a little south whereas men don’t start to worry until their sexual performance begins to decline (which usually happens much later).
What this seems to suggest is that generally women are more susceptible to the influence of the media and so they start to feel old as soon as they believe they can’t compete with the young things they see on the news-stands. The truth of course is that you are only as old as you feel, and any age is a great age if you’re fit and healthy.
